When you vote on 7 May 2026, you’ll make your opinion heard on the things that matter to you.

Politicians in the Senedd, also called the Welsh Parliament, are in charge of so much that affects our lives. Voting in an election is how we choose who those politicians are.

Election day

On the day of the election, the power will be in your hands, and every voter has one equal vote.

The number of seats political parties win in the Senedd election will closely match the number of votes they get

Some people are new to voting, some have never voted before, and some people have been voting for most of their lives.

Reasons to vote

But what are the reasons people give for wanting to vote in elections?

  • To impact policies around education, health, housing and more

  • To support the political party or independent candidate that you want to win

  • To make sure politicians do their jobs well – you can vote them out if they don’t

The Senedd election on 7 May 2026 is your chance to make your voice heard.
