ELECTION COMMUNICATION Monty Kennard Independent Candidate for Gwynedd Maldwyn Common Sense. Local Voice. Real Accountability. A Different Kind of Politics: Listening, Learning & Acting Locally I am not standing for the Senedd pretending I have all the answers. What I do know is this: too many decisions about our communities are made by people in Cardiff who rarely see the realities of rural life, small towns, border communities, and stretched local services. As an independent candidate, my commitment is simple: To listen to real people in our communities. To learn from those on the ground. To take your experiences seriously. To take your concerns directly to the Senedd. To push for change based on reality, not theory. I want to be a local voice that takes what you tell me and turns it into real pressure for change. Real accountability starts with listening. New Gwynedd Maldwyn Constituency Gwynedd Maldwyn is the new Senedd constituency bringing together areas including parts of: Arfon, Clwyd South, Dwyfor Meirionnydd, Montgomeryshire. It is now one of the largest constituencies in Wales, covering rural communities, border villages, market towns, and Welsh-speaking heartlands. Strong local representation matters more than ever. Don't Forget. If you are 16 years old or over, you CAN vote in the Senedd election on 7th May 2026. A Local Voice. Not Party Politics No party bosses. No party whip. Just direct accountability to you. I will: Be visible and accessible across the whole constituency. Hold regular local surgeries Speak up for rural towns, villages and small communities. Take your concerns directly to Cardiff. Monty Kennard I'm Monty Kennard, and I'm standing as an Independent because too many people feel politics has become distant from everyday life. I live and work locally, with a background in education, and I understand the pressures facing families, rural communities, and local services. I'm not backed by a political party, which means I answer directly to you. Healthcare should work when people need it most. Across Wales, patients face long waiting times, difficulty accessing GP appointments, and increasing pressure on hospitals, despite rising spending. The problem isn't the dedication of NHS staff. It's a system that too often puts bureaucracy before patients. I will push for: Greater accountability within health boards. More resources directed to frontline care. Better use of community hospitals for local treatment. Joined-up services so patients are not passed between systems. If care can safely be delivered locally, it should be. Education That Works Schools work best when decisions are made with educators, not imposed on them. Teachers, families and pupils are dealing with growing pressures, while major changes to education systems have created uncertainty. Children deserve stability, support and real opportunity. I will push for: Proper support for Additional Learning Needs (ALN). Respect for vocational and practical pathways. Schools built on foundations of mutual respect. Fair support for trainee teachers and healthcare students. Policies shaped by classroom reality. Education should focus on children and learning, not bureaucracy. Housing Local People First Local working families are being priced out, and many local people are still waiting for secure housing. At the same time, pressure on housing. GP surgeries, and schools continues to grow. When homes are limited, priorities matter. I support: Priority for long-term local residents and local homeless people in council and subsidised housing. More genuinely affordable homes for working families. Support for young local people to stay and build their lives here. Immigration & Community Stability Wales has a strong tradition of welcoming people who contribute and become part of community life. While immigration policy is decided at UK level, its local impact must be managed responsibly. Immigration should be legal, properly vetted, and managed at a pace local housing and public services can sustain. Community stability depends on ensuring housing, healthcare and services meet local needs first. Strong communities depend on fairness, stability, and proper planning for everyone. Rural Communities, Connectivity & Cost of Living Life in rural Wales comes with unique challenges. Higher travel costs, limited public transport, older housing and unreliable broadband can make everyday life more expensive and more difficult. Reliable energy, transport and digital connectivity are no longer luxuries, they are essential services for work, healthcare, education and local businesses. I will campaign for: Action to reduce rural fuel poverty. Reliable broadband and mobile coverage . Transport policies designed for rural communities. Fair support for farmers and rural businesses. Greater accountability from service providers when communities are left behind. Rural communities deserve policies built around how people actually live. Merit, Fairness & Common Sense Public support, funding, and opportunity should always be based on: Talent. Merit. Need. The future of our communities. Not on political fashion or narrow targets. I believe in: Equal treatment under the law. Rewarding hard work. Pride in Welsh heritage. Support for those who genuinely need it. Equality means judging people on effort, contribution, and character. Not ideology. Monty Kennard Independent Candidate for Gwynedd Maldwyn Common Sense. Local Voice. Real Accountability.
