Beth Winter Election Communication Pontypridd Cynon Merthyr, South Wales In the Senedd elections on 7 May, you will have ONE vote for the candidate you believe will best represent you. I believe I am that candidate. For a strong Valleys Voice in the Senedd please vote for me. Politics has to change. Our valleys deserve better. A Community Independent Voice for our Valleys The future is ours to win My heart and soul lie in these Valleys. It is my home – I grew up here, I still live here with my family. Our Valleys have a proud working-class tradition of hard work, solidarity, and achievements like the NHS, trade unions and worker-led projects such as Tower Colliery — proof that when we work together, we can take control and keep wealth in our communities. I’ve always believed in working with people, not speaking over them. That’s how I worked as MP for Cynon Valley, keeping to my socialist principles: opposing cuts wherever they come from, Westminster, Cardiff Bay or the local council; celebrating all that’s wonderful about our Valleys and building an alternative where the wealth that’s made here, stays here. This is why if elected to the Senedd I would only take a salary equal to my previous trade union employment, with the remainder given to community initiatives. As a Community Independent, I would not be beholden to any party machine or corporate funders. I’d be free to fight for a Wales that puts people, peace and planet before profit. Politics has to change. People deserve honesty and representatives rooted in their communities because we can drive change for the better. Beth Winter 3 Key Pledges 1 Fight for investment and build community wealth: by campaigning for sustainable investment in jobs, and helping community groups take control of what’s theirs. I will work for a thriving future built on the proud foundations of our past. 2 Oppose any funding cuts: as an independent voice speaking up fearlessly for you, I will fight for people and communities across our Valleys and defend our local services. 3 Give back to the community: to show my commitment to these Valleys, I will only take part of a Senedd Member’s salary – using the remainder to invest in community projects, education and training. My proven track record ☑ WASPI women campaign ☑ Mineworkers Pension scheme campaign ☑ Instigated the reestablishment of the RCT Trades Council ☑ Supported local campaigns to oppose school closures ☑ Strong advocate for the Free School Meals campaign in Wales and our Valleys ☑ Fostering community wealth building – I commissioned the Cynon Valley after Covid – Bevan Foundation report on this and work is continuing ☑ Supporting the Home to School transport campaign from the outset If elected I will prioritise: ☑ Working to turn this broken system on its head – politics for the people, not the rich and their friends. ☑ Being a politician answerable to you, not to a party machine or corporate funders. ☑ Being an honest voice for our Valleys, rooted in the community, visible and accessible, with an open door for everyone. ☑ Building a grassroots, community-powered movement. ☑ Working with other progressive voices, rejecting partisan politics, putting the community first. ☑ Taking part of a Senedd member’s salary – investing the rest in our community.
